Para swimmers bag 18 medals in 2 days

TEHRAN, Jun. 11 (MNA) – Iranian swimmers managed to gain six more medals on the second day of the 2016 German International Championships (IDM) to reach a medal tally of 18.

The 2016 German International Championships (in German, the Internationale Deutsche Meisterschafter, or IDM) opened on June 09 in Berlin of Germany.

Iranian swimmers with an impairments, comprising eight representatives, won two gold, one silver as well as three bronze medals on the second day of the 2016 para IDM meet.

Accordingly, Ali Amini and Mehdi Akbarnejad snatched gold medals of Men's 150m Individual Medley Heats and Men's 100m Freestyle Heats, respectively.

Mohammad Mohammadi, the other Iranian representative, stood on the second podium at the Men's 50m Backstroke Heats event while Ali Amini, Mehdi Akbarnejad and Mohammad Reza Rahbari secured bronze medals at Men's 100m Freestyle Heats, Men's 50m Backstroke Heats as well as Men's 150m Individual Medley Heats, respectively.

The Iranian squad had previously scooped 12 colorful medals on the first day of the international sportive event to reach a total medal count of 18 so far.

The 2016 German International Championships has gathered 568 swimmers from 41 nations in Berlin Europa Sportpark and will come to an end on June 12.
